Two plugins, one instrument. OrchestRox turns a guitar into an orchestra — pitch-shifted audio plus living MIDI sections that follow your hands. SpaceRox turns it into a wall of downtuned, shimmering space. Run them in series and one take becomes a score.
Play a line. Hear a string section.
OrchestRox listens to your guitar twice. The audio path shifts your actual tone up or down twelve semitones and blends it against the dry signal. The tracking path converts what you play into MIDI — detects the note, voices it into a chord that's diatonic to your key, optionally arpeggiates it in host tempo, and streams it to any orchestral instruments in your DAW.
Tracking is deliberately monophonic: play single-note lines and let the ENSEMBLE engine build the harmony. With CH SPLIT on, the voicing spreads across MIDI channels 1–4 — basses, celli, violas, violins — so a multitimbral sampler gives every section its own instrument.
In Logic it's native two ways: the plugin publishes a virtual MIDI source (OrchestRox Out) any instrument track can record, and the companion ORCHESTROX MFX lives in the MIDI FX slot so each section can carry its own voicing and arp.
| CONTROL | WHAT IT DOES |
|---|---|
| PITCH / BLEND | Shift the guitar audio ±12 st; mix dry against shifted. At 0 st the plugin is transparent. |
| SENSE | Tracking sensitivity — up for light picking, down if noise triggers notes. |
| TRANSPOSE | Shifts the generated MIDI ±24 st, independent of audio pitch. |
| DYNAMICS | 0 = fixed velocity; 1 = velocity follows picking strength. |
| CC11 SWELL | Streams your playing envelope as expression — sections breathe with you. |
| LOGIC OUT | Publishes the virtual CoreMIDI source for Logic. |
| VOICING | Solo · Octaves · Power · Triad · Orchestra (basses −24, celli −12, violas +7, violins +12 + third). |
| KEY / SCALE | Thirds are voiced diatonically, the way an arranger would. |
| CH SPLIT | One voice per MIDI channel (1 = lowest … 4 = highest). |
| PATTERN / RATE | Arp Off (sustained chords) / Up / Down / UpDown / Random at 1/1–1/32 incl. triplets. |
| GATE / OCTAVES | Step length; pattern range over 1–3 octaves. |
| PRESETS | 10 factory programs + your own, saved to ~/Library/Audio/Presets. |
Insert OrchestRox on your guitar track. On a strings track, set MIDI input to OrchestRox Out and record-enable. Load String Ensemble — Orchestra voicing, CH SPLIT, CC11 — and play slow single notes. Dig in harder and the section swells with you.
Harp Cascade preset: Triad voicing arpeggiated Up at 1/16 over two octaves, gate 0.35. Hold one note per bar on a harp or pizzicato patch; change chords by changing notes.
CH SPLIT on → route ch1 basses, ch2 celli, ch3 violas, ch4 violins in one multitimbral sampler. Then put ORCHESTROX MFX on individual tracks to give violins a 1/16 arp while the basses sustain.
Octave Shimmer and Sub Growl are pure audio presets — +12 shimmer at 40% blend, or −12 weight at 55% — with the tracker off. Classic pitch-pedal territory.
Feed it clean or lightly driven guitar; heavy fuzz confuses the detector. Put drive and space after OrchestRox — which is exactly where SpaceRox goes.
Guitar → OrchestRox → SpaceRox. The orchestra follows your line over a downtuned shimmering wall — one take, whole arrangement.
Floating ambience to crushing walls — five dials, every position intentional.
SpaceRox turns a guitar into a heavy, downtuned shoegaze wall — "spacey Sleep Token." Each of the five macro dials moves a whole chain of hidden parameters, tuned so any position sounds intentional; at zero, every effect is audibly transparent. Under the hood: a tightened amp-voiced drive, a sub-octave with a hard-panned detune doubler, a self-feeding shimmer reverb, dual-LFO tape drift, and a soft glue ceiling.
The SHIMMER INTERVAL selector re-pitches the reverb's climb: Oct Up choirs, suspended 5ths, celestial Oct+5th — or Oct Down, which stacks darkness under the tail for instant doom-drone.
| DIAL | WHAT IT DOES |
|---|---|
| GRAVITY | Weight & drive: clean → crunch → saturated wall. Tightens lows pre-drive so palm mutes stay chunky. |
| DESCENT | Downtune & thickness: sub-octave plus two detuned "takes" panned hard L/R. |
| NEBULA | Shimmer-reverb space — size, decay, climb and mix rise together. Tasteful at 0.3; a second instrument at 0.8. |
| DRIFT | Motion: chorus-rate + slow tape-style wobble, channels out of phase. The sound breathes. |
| HORIZON | Output & glue: exact unity at 0.5; past it, peaks press into a soft ceiling. |
| SHIMMER | Interval of the reverb climb: Oct Down · 4th Up · 5th Up · Oct Up · Oct+5th. |
Event Horizon — the flagship: GRAVITY 0.8, DESCENT 0.5, NEBULA 0.6. Drop-A weight without retuning; stereo-filling doubled takes.
Drop A Ritual: GRAVITY 0.85 with NEBULA at 0.15 — all weight, no wash. Palm mutes stay percussive.
Ascension: GRAVITY near zero, NEBULA 0.85. Single notes bloom into rising Oct-Up choirs; add DRIFT to keep the tail moving.
Void Ritual flips SHIMMER to Oct Down — the reverb stacks darkness beneath every chord as it rings out.
Cathedral: 5th-Up shimmer never resolves — clean arpeggios hang in a huge unresolving space.
Both plugins snapshot every control from the PRESETS menu — plain XML in ~/Library/Audio/Presets/XeDeen Industries/, trivially shareable.
Any Mac running macOS 10.13 (High Sierra) or later — Apple Silicon and Intel both supported natively. Mac only for now.
Works inside Logic Pro, GarageBand, Ableton Live, REAPER, Cubase, Studio One, Bitwig — anything that loads AU or VST3 plugins. OrchestRox MFX is made for Logic's MIDI FX slot.
Both plugins also run as their own standalone apps — plug your guitar into your interface, open the app, and play. No music software needed.
